moodlite Software / Re: Problem compiling - lots of errors!

Hi

looks like reinstalling worked

The errors really state that everything is working as usual .. they are just warnings...

The only important part is

error: Failed to open COM11
error: espcomm_open failed
error: espcomm_upload_mem failed
error: espcomm_upload_mem failed

and that looks like  you set a port that does not belong to your board or you have another software running that occupies the port.  Like putty.

Hi lubos88923,

please try to just upload the sketch data folder.  The remaining code  you can take from version 3.

I did not need to change the code for brightness. I just limited it to 10 as the lowest value on the website to fix my controller issues.

This  version of the Data folder however contains the fix for the main page javascript issue that is preventing the site from sending any data to the device and this might fix your issue

moodlite Software / Cause and Solution for my Issues

Hi everyone,

i spent the last couple of days and a lot of coffee and lateron some vodka on solving my problems with the  moodlite software.

there are three main issues

1. every time the UI Werbsite sends a message containing either 16 20 or 24 chars ( I assume basically any multiple of 4 although i did not bother to test this) my controller dumps and the programm restarts.
1a. I solved this by renaming all the stuff that caused dumps to a name that would not cause a dump ( luckily just adding a single letter did not always work because of the variable nature of the data transmitted .. 0-9 would work  10 would not,  so i had more fun and vodka while finding the right amount of characters to add so it would work for all combinations)

2. the settings page contains fields for mqtt stuff. whatever this is for.  In my case these fields are empty but upon calling the screen the  server wants to send out a json containing lots of jibberish.  And the http server flat out refuses to send jibberish.  Good for him.

2a.
See screenshot for my solution for this issue.

3. the website sets some servermode variable during startup and it seems  the java script crashes before it can clear the variable.  I added a  try catch to the  method and cleared the servermode variable in the finally block.

3a. see atachments

I guess it has something to do with my controllers as these kinds of issues would have and must have come up during testing and for a lot of other guys and gals.

I am not sure how to post my current and mostly working solution. If restrictions allow it i will try to add a zipped file containing the sources. In case there are more lost souls like me out there

Hi Adam,

some of the messages are normal.

Hoewever it looks like you did not include all libraries

Can you please check

https://github.com/spigotx/Moodlite/wiki/Preparing-Arduino-IDE

and add or maybe re-add those that are missing ?

Hi everyone,

i tinkered around a little with the program and the javascript files (mainly debugging)

I was able to get the first page of settings to work "mostly"   I can change brightness and speed now as well as some of the patterns

Here is what i changed in the Moodlite_2019_04_28_V3.0\Moodlite\Arduino\Moodlite\data\js\main_form.js

The second page still does not do anything for me and i cannot change the number of leds and other things but  since i already hardcoded these  i guess i can live with the current state. althogh most of the color selections still make it crash.

rewriting the whole thing is not an option because of the efford involved .. and maybe some day someone will point me to a fix so my little workaround is no longer necessary.

Kind Regards

David

Hi everyone,

my version looks the same even after uploading the  SPIFFS  file.   Part of it works: i can set a couple of patterns and colors. But for example i cannot change the number of leds per corner or the total number of leds nor my wifi settings nor the brightness.

I tried hardcoding the number of leds which obviously works but i think that the software should be able to handle updates to these variables as i saw the code handling these updates ... they are just not being called.

Attached please find the proof that i uploaded the SPIFFS files and how my ui looks in a browser i can confirm that i read whatever document that i could find and tried searching the forum for a post regarding my issue.. this one was the closed i could find  and the suggestion to upload the SPIFFS files does not seem to help in this case unless i did it wrong somehow.

Kind Regards

David
