give WLED a try, i also had problems with the moodloght.ino, so i tried the switch to WLED , it took less then 10 mins to get it setup , has music reaction and screen mirror, a ton of effects and and many other cool features ARN also made a post about it on here,

I was having big problems soldering wires to my sk6812 rgbww leds, the connection pads after cutting felt way to small and the wires would always fall off, getting the pads tinned was also a problem so now i am using these, they have saved me many hours of frustration

I was also thiking of using the SK6812 RGBWW strip for my moodlite project, from what i understand the fastled library does not support RGBW/W animations, if it does work, it will probley only show the RGB colours in the animations? , after some searching i found this library which fully supports SK6812 RGBW/W, i will be looking into adding it to my project if there is no way to do it with the current library.

ok my stuff arrived from aliexpress, wemos mini d1 and some RGBWW 144LPM SK6812 leds, after many hours stress, trying to get the leds to work with the wemos ( different data pins/power options) i finally got things working  ::) So if you have a wemos d1 mini or other ESP8266 base and your having problems getting the leds to work just make sure you use RX as the data pin and of course connect the green data cable to the RX connector on the wemos,

So now we have them working we just need to use this fork of the fastled library to enable the extra white chip in the SK6812s
just download and replace the one in the arduino folder. This library can also fix some people issues with leds flicker.
from what i have seen so far the SK6812 LEDs are the way to go, the extra white led make so much difference, it seems 2x brighter then just the RGB leds, just the single white led is 2x brighter then all the RGB leds on full white and uses much less power, I will update with some pictures soon.
