moodlite Software / Testing WLED
« on: December 01, 2019, 11:45:34 PM »
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to let you know I just tried using WLED  as the software for Moodlite and is being very interesting.
I deeply love Moodlite implementation, but doing MQTT right has become an issue for me.
Using WLED eased a lot of the technical and coding  need that were beyond my knowledge, I modified the wled 0.8.6 to output to 2 pins, gpio 2 and 3 this way I have certain flexibility doing my projects .
The advantages are:
  • No YAML File modification to integrate.
  • Direct control of patters and basic functions on home assistant.
  • Huge number of patters.
  • Electric overload monitored by software (it tries to keep power usage inside of a defined threshold).
  • It syncs patters between separate devices.

below some pictures from the app, home assistant and my LED setups.

moonlite Builds / A Build with a "twist" and a "corner"
« on: February 05, 2019, 03:50:48 AM »
Hello, first of all, thank you to all the guys who made possible this amazing project!

As there are several build posts around, I don't want to focus on what I am doing, but on what I am doing different.
At first I thought on a simple 10 panel scenario, but as usual, to have "wife approval" you need to give the extra mile.
So after asking her what she had on her mind, we ended up with a setup that touches the ceiling, goes down through one wall and jumps into another.
1 plane jump is easy because panels can be arranged to fit that, but 2 plane jumps needed something extra.

So I made a V shaped variation of the panel for it to join the 2 planes.
It is functional but has 2 or 3 flaws I need to polish before considering it a complete model.
I also remixed some nanoleaf hangers to make them moodlight size and customized one to support the control unit.

Below some pictures and video of what we have in our mind, and what are the results so far.
