Spigot's Build Log

While I'm waiting for my Servo Extention leads, I was finally able to put 3 tiles together for testing purposes.
I have 3 LEDs per corner.
I also made a small "PCB" with extra micro USB port for ESP + LEDs powering. ESP USB port will be used only for uploading sketches. Instead of NodeMCU I'm using Wemos D1 mini.

Looks nice! Can't wait to get my stuff to build my Moodlite.
Should we do a version of the power block that allows to lead the controllers USB port to the outside by using an extension cable?
Somehting like this:

I did the PCB because:
1. Resistor
2. Capacitor
3. It's not recommended to power LEDs from Arduino. It's safe for few LEDs, but more LEDs more problems (same as capacitor, etc.)
I would like to create power cover for my PCB (with 2 holes for micro USB connectors). But don't how how fast I'm able to do it.
Or maybe someone else would do it.

Will you do a diagram for that PCB so that we can follow that?
Maybe can do a modified power cover. I'm on the power cover for the larger NodeMCU anyways.

Definitely interested in both the power box with USB access as well as the resistor and capacitor details. Hopefully we can smash all that stuff into the power box.
FYI: Found this site which has some details on the wiring:

Wiring sketch.
In this sketch I already have a HW button to make reset (it's not implemented yet in v1.1.2).
Capacitor: 1000uF
LED resistor: 470 Ohm
Button resistor: 10kOhm
Micro Usb - B

Thanks!
What will the reset button do what the reset button on the board can't do? "Factory" reset?
And what about the USB port on your sketch? Can this be used for flashing although the power supply is connected?
What part did you use for that? I'd like to modify the power block model so that we can mount this USB port properly.

The reset buton is for "factory reset" -> EEPROM reset
The USB port on my sketch is under the PCB (from other side). It's only for powering the ESP and LEDs. For flashing I always use Arduinos USB port.

Thanks for the explanation.
So when powering the system via USB completely, we really should modify the power block for fitting a USB socket.
Really like that!

We only need 2 holes in the wall for 2 USB ports. Just like on any device with micro USB port.

Does the WEMO fit into the power brick with the USB port facing downwards?
Otherwise we'll need to make more space or use these USB extensions with mounting.

Sorry, but I don't know. I had no time to print the power brick. I'll try tomorrow and let you know. Thanks.
