Thanks for creating this great project! My tiles are currently printing  :)

Is it possible to add MQTT support so it can be used with home assistant or other home automation systems?

It's possible and it's on my ToDo list. :D
I also have HA so I can test it with MQTT once it's done.

My Home Assistant would love to connect to the Moodlite as well! :D

Today I managed to prepare basic I/O fields for MQTT setup. Next step is the MQTT code, but it needs some time.

My question is, which parameters would you like to change over MQTT?

First things that come to my mind are
  • Turning on/off
  • Color
  • Brightness

Doing something with the patterns might be too much for the beginning, I guess.

I don't think that changing pattern will be any different from others parameters. It's just a number to change.

At some point do you guys think we can define static colors for individual tiles?

Maybe this would be possible by sending tile ID's and the color codes.

But I think its easier to predefine some patterns from the webinterface and activate them with mqtt for the beginning.

I think at the very basic it should have a topic for brightness, speed and pattern. It would also be cool to be able to publish to an individual LED though.

Could anyone skilled in HA, prepare some configuration for changing:
- brightness
- pattern
- speed

over MQTT?

I run Openhab, so i can help in that regard.

I would like
Power
Brightness
Colour
Individual tile colour (if this is at all possible. Ive read its on a todo list)
Pattern Choice

This would be a good thing to implement definitely
I honestly think that everything that can be controlled using the web interface should be controlled using MQTT also
